Over the medium term, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are set to increase
their bilateral trade turnover to $10 billion. The countries have great
potential for this, including through strengthening business cooperation. Last
year, mutual trade turnover amounted to $4.5 billion. To date, over 1,000
companies with Kazakh capital are successfully operating in Uzbekistan. Kazakhstan
ranks among the top three partner countries of Uzbekistan in terms of the
number of jointly created enterprises. In turn, the neighboring country is the
main supplier of fruits and vegetables to Kazakhstan. Cross-border cooperation
is also one of the aspects of expanding trade relations between the countries. The
Central Asia International Center for Industrial Cooperation will be created
for its development. It will stimulate the creation of new industries,
processing of agricultural products, and provide logistics services for further
export of goods.
«We are not only developing mutual trade, the exchange of goods but also reaching a new level of interaction. This involves a production and technological level of cooperation where we are creating enterprises and jointly forming added value. We are leveraging our competitive advantages. In some countries, there are raw materials, we have fruit and vegetable raw materials, and there is ferrous metallurgy here», - said Akramjon Nematov, the First deputy director of the Institute for strategic and regional studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
