Kazakhstan trains new generation of educational leaders

A new generation of leaders for educational organizations is being trained in Kazakhstan. For the second consecutive year, the country has been implementing the «1,000 Leaders of Change in Education» program to select and train talent. This year, over 370 candidates were included in the national staff reserve out of more than 13,000 applicants. Unlike last year, this year’s competition was open to teachers in addition to deputy heads of schools. The selection process consists of several stages. Initially, applicants take a test, and those who perform well undergo basic training followed by internships at the country’s leading schools. A commission then conducts a final assessment. Those included in the reserve are appointed as school leaders without going through competitive procedures. Of the 200 individuals selected for the staff reserve last year, 170 are now heading educational organizations.

«We are confident that these leaders possess innovative and effective educational methods, are proficient in creative and critical thinking techniques, and adhere to the principles of fairness and honesty. They also uphold the communication competencies of teachers in educational organizations. In their work with children, within their teams, and in interactions with parents and non-governmental organizations, they will consistently demonstrate the highest level of professionalism,» said Kanybek Zhumashev, Chairman of the Committee for Secondary Education at the Kazakh Ministry of Education.
