Kazakhstan, Thailand aim to expand cooperation in medicine

Kazakhstan and Thailand are expanding cooperation in the field of medicine. Academic symposia featuring Thai leading specialists are being held in Astana. The foreign experts are familiarizing themselves with the work of Kazakh doctors and showing interest in domestic developments, particularly in cancer treatment. The delegation also includes representatives from companies working in medical innovation and robotics, who intend to establish partnerships with Kazakhstan. Notably, the two countries have already built ties in politics, trade, and tourism. Now, medical collaboration is entering a new phase.

«In the past, Thailand and Kazakhstan’s cooperation in this area was mainly focused in terms of technical assistance. But we find out that both countries have so much potential for further cooperation. And this time, we will concentrate on the area of oncology and multidisciplinary care and wellness,» noted Ambassador of Thailand to Kazakhstan Piyapin Niyomrerks.

«We expect that there will be a collaboration between scientists and doctors, including some hospitals from Kazakhstan with Thailand. We expect to have a real collaboration between Kazakhstan and Thailand, including training people, technology transfer and patient care,» said Suthat Fucharoen, oncologist, Samitivej Hospital.
