Kazakhstan’s
national flag was ceremoniously hoisted at Camp Faouar, the United Nations (UN) Disengagement Observer Force’s headquarters
in the Golan Heights. Presently, 139 Kazakh military personnel are maintaining
ceasefire between the conflicting parties under the UN mission mandate. The
peacekeepers carry out duties, including patrolling their designated area, guarding,
reinforcing checkpoints, and demining explosive objects. The granting of a UN
mandate to Kazakhstan for independent deployment and execution of peacekeeping
missions underscores the exceptional training of Kazakh servicemen and the country’s growing stature on the
global stage.
“Today, on the
32nd anniversary of the establishment of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan,
members of the national peacekeeping contingent in the mission area on the
Golan Heights in Syria held a ceremony to hoist the national flag of
Kazakhstan. This marks a historic event for our country and profound
responsibility for all personnel,” said
Zhiger Aipov, commander of the national peacekeeping
contingent.
