Kazakhstan sees rapid growth of meetings,
incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) tourism. According to experts,
both business tourism and the meetings industry have high development
prospects. With its stable socio-economic and political situation, and
investment climate, the country attracts entrepreneurs from all over the world.
They come to participate in major international events, as well as for
investment purposes. Most specialized forums and summits are held in Almaty and
Astana, but their number is growing across the country, too. For example, Kazakhstan
hosted the 17th Asian Regional Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical
Engineering, which brought together 600 delegates. Over 200 participants attended
a conference on expanding access to higher education. A total of 100
intellectual athletes from around the world participated in the Asian
Speedcubing Championship. And this is only a small part of all events held in
Kazakhstan. In the future, the country plans to host such large-scale MICE
events as the Enactus World Cup among students. There are also plans to bring
the Rubik’s Cube World Championship and the World Robot Olympiad to Kazakhstan.
“Enactus World Cup is a world championship for
student entrepreneurship, where national champions of each country present
their existing business projects aimed at achieving the 17 United Nations
Sustainable Development Goals. For our youth, it is a huge opportunity
to see the level of international projects, gain a new impetus and inspiration.
I believe that this major event will promote our beautiful country, and show
all our opportunities, attractions, cultural and historical sites,” said Albina
Yerzhanova, president of Enactus Kazakhstan.
