Kazakhstan is set to launch a new
satellite communication system. The members of the Senate, an Upper House of
the Kazakh Parliament, have approved a law on communication, digitalization,
and improvement of the investment climate in the field of informatization,
providing domestic operators with equal access to infrastructure. This will
foster competition, ensuring high-quality services and broader coverage. Additionally,
subsidies for communication services in agricultural and industrial facilities
have been introduced to promote digitalization across sectors. Overall,
satellite internet is expected to significantly impact Kazakhstan’s economic
development by boosting innovation, facilitating global market access for
enterprises and startups, and enhancing the investment climate.
“This law covers issues related
to the development of the communication market, as well as digitalization and
attracting investments in the field of informatization. The introduced
amendments will contribute to expanding the scope of using space monitoring
data. Specific provisions aimed at preventing payment transactions with signs
of fraud are also included. Overall, we hope that the approved law will
contribute to providing quality and affordable communication services to the
population, as well as to the development of Kazakhstan’s digital potential,” said
Senate Chairperson Maulen Ashimbayev.
