Kazakh craftswomen set Guinness record again

Kazakh craftswomen have once again entered the Guinness World Records. This time, the needlewomen from the Pavlodar region created the world’s longest handmade patchwork quilt. Notably, they presented it at the fifth World Nomad Games. When preparing the 11,200-meter-long patchwork quilt, the craftswomen adhered to the ancient traditions of Kazakh decorative and applied arts. They used various ornaments, patterns and colors symbolizing hospitality, abundance, and freedom.

«The creation of such a patchwork quilt is a meticulous process involving intricate ornamental work. It took us nine months of hard work to sew it. We created the quilt here, at the Active Longevity Center, where our craftswomen’s club operates. We gathered regularly, discussing different ideas that would benefit society,» shared craftswoman Aiman Syzdykova.
