The capital of Kazakhstan is increasing its export potential. According to preliminary data from the Bureau of National Statistics, the amount of supplies of Nur-Sultan’s manufactured products increased six times compared to the same period last year and exceeded US$228 million. Yerzhan Baltayev, Head of the Department for Investments and Entrepreneurship Development, stated that the city’s trade turnover with a number of countries amounted to US$11 billion in 2021.
“This is, in general, a good indicator for the city. But when we analyzed, we figured out that mostly raw materials are exported. We have parent companies of oil producing enterprises and mining companies. In addition, the export of finished products occupies a major share, there are approximately 70 companies. We export locomotives to Russia and Azerbaijan. We export wagons, fertilizers, building mixtures, computing devices as well as military equipment,” said Yerzhan Baltayev.
