The first meeting of
the Council of Justice Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was
held in Astana. Chaired by Kazakh Minister of Justice Azamat Yeskarayev, it brought
together the heads of ministries of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, the Kyrgyz Republic
and Uzbekistan, as well as OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev. The participants discussed strengthening
interaction and cooperation in the legal sphere, highlighting the importance of
digitalizing this area at the present stage. This will enable the OTS member
countries to enhance the efficiency of justice bodies and deepen interagency
collaboration. The Ministers signed a strategic document, the Astana Declaration,
to consolidate the foundations of the agreements.
«We believe that the establishment of the
Council will promote sharing experience primarily in lawmaking, judicial and
legal sphere, and forensic expertise. We are planning to implement mutual
developments in the digitalization of judicial bodies. We also have something
to show our counterparts. Moreover, in the area of forensic expertise, we
intend to exchange experience with Türkiye on virtual autopsy. The next meeting
of the Council of Ministers of Justice of the OTS member countries is scheduled
to be held in Azerbaijan in 2025,» said Azamat Yeskarayev, Kazakh Minister of
Justice.
