Domestic tourism in Kazakhstan breaks records

Almost seven million Kazakh residents spent their vacations in local resorts and recreation areas last year. This is the record indicator for domestic tourism in recent years. At the same time, according to statistics, Kazakh residents started to pay more attention not only to cities and resort areas, but also to national parks, nature reserves and other protected areas. Burabai, Almaty and Shymkent were the most popular family holiday destinations over the past year. According to experts, in the coming seasons, new regions of Abai and Ulytau are expected to become the main tourism attractions.

“New regions are being created. These directions will become the main trend of this year. There are a lot of historical places in the newly formed Abai, Ulytau and Zhetysu regions that people can visit. These places will become the most visited. In addition, since the beginning of the year, new state support measures have come into effect. One of them is a free flight for children,” said Yernur Kenzhebekov, Press Secretary of Kazakh Tourism National Company.
