Bolatbek Abdrasilov: UNT Certificate Should Become International

The Unified National Test (UNT) in Kazakhstan is an exam with a history. It’s criticized, defended, feared — and taken every year by tens of thousands of graduates. For 21 years, it has determined who will continue their studies at universities and under what conditions. But does it truly fulfill its main function: to fairly and accurately select the best students?

The guest of the new episode is Bolatbek Abdrasilov, Director of the National Testing Center. He is one of those who stood at the origins of the UNT’s creation. In the program People of Action, he talks about which subjects remain challenging, why mistakes in test questions are not a catastrophe but part of the working process, and how Kazakhstan is striving to achieve international recognition for its exam.
