Netflix streaming
platform is set to showcase the beauties of Almaty and the Zailiysky Alatau mountains
by shooting a reality travel show. Scheduled for
filming from May 20 to 30, the project will promote recognition and boost the
tourist potential of not only Kazakhstan but also the entire region, according
to the mayor’s office. The travel show will also feature natural sites of Kyrgyzstan.
“The reality show will capture the nature of Central Asia and the urban spirit of the metropolis, the largest city in the region. A global trend for new and lesser-known tourist destinations is now gaining momentum. Foreign travelers are expressing keen interest in Central Asia precisely because of its pristine and untouched nature. Ecotourism is becoming very popular worldwide so we are not surprised but extremely pleased that Netflix is planning to film a reality show here. The Amazon Prime team has already visited Kazakhstan, and now another major company is expected to arrive in the country in the near future,” said Almaty Tourism Bureau CEO Kamila Lukpanova.
Earlier,
the New York Times published the traditional list of ‘52 Places to Go in 2024,’
with Almaty metropolis ranking 25th.
