Once upon a time, the Renaissance Island was roamed by the herds of saiga and wild boars, and its cozy bays were full of fish and served ref-uge for fishing boats at time of storms. For 50 years, a military biochemi-cal test site had operated on the island and civilian access to it was closed. The Outdoor World team managed to visit the mysterious island as part of a research expedition organized by the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
