Kazakh President participates in BRICS Plus Summit

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev addressed the BRICS plenary session in an outreach/BRICS Plus format in Kazan. Representatives from 36 countries and leaders of six international organizations are participating in this major event. According to the Head of State, BRICS is becoming a global centre of international attraction, and its multilateral efforts complement the activities of the UN, which remains an indispensable and universal structure.

«We highly appreciate Russia's concept of creating equal and indivisible security in Eurasia to reduce geopolitical tensions through strengthening mutual trust and cooperation. Kazakhstan supports China's initiative on global security, protecting sovereignty, adopting multilateral approaches and peacefully resolving conflicts. Kazakhstan supports China and Brazil’s peace plan for Ukraine,» Tokayev noted.

Presently, Kazakhstan is actively cooperating with the BRICS countries, which accounted for half of the country's foreign trade turnover last year. The Head of State highlighted that the investment sphere, IT technologies, critical minerals, food security, education, and tourism are emerging as promising areas for mutually beneficial partnerships. He noted that interaction in the BRICS Plus format is important for strengthening energy security and jointly addressing the consequences of climate change. In conclusion, President Tokayev emphasized that joint efforts in such an expanded format will enhance North-South connectivity, bolster international security, and ensure conditions for global progress.
