The second session of the Kazakh Parliament
of the eighth convocation has officially concluded. During the joint meeting of
the two houses, the MPs adopted a special resolution and announced a recess.
Throughout the session, the Mazhilis and Senate members reviewed 179 bills,
adopting 102 of them. The MPs toured around 800 localities, held nearly 2,000
meetings with voters, and submitted 727 parliamentary inquiries. Over 2,000
people contacted the Public Reception Office at the Mazhilis. Also, the MPs were
involved in the work of 14 international parliamentary organizations, took part
in 257 international events, and collaborated with the parliaments of 38
foreign states.
«To date, the Parliament’s
portfolio contains 71 bills. The MPs are set to work on the Budget, Tax,
Construction, and Water Codes. Also, a brand new Digital Code is expected to be
adopted. Moreover, we intend to carry out significant work on bills relating to
anti-corruption measures, drug control, religion, judicial system reform, and
other issues. This will require coordinated and meticulous efforts from the
Parliament, Government, and the expert community,» said Yerlan Koshanov,
Chairperson of the Mazhilis, the Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament.
