Since May, cynologists of the Border
Service of Kazakhstan’s National Security Committee have been studying the
ability of Kazakh Tazy and Tobet dog breeds to guard the country’s borders. Specialists
are now training dogs at the service cynology department in the Almaty region. By
the end of the year, dog breeders are expected to determine what services the
Tazy and Tobet breeds will be used for. However, cynologists have already observed
the keen sense of hearing and smell of four-legged recruits, along with their
mobility, ability to focus on achieving results, and, notably, their
adaptability to commands. Therefore, the Tazy and Tobet breeds will be useful in
any areas of the Border Service work as hundreds of years ago. The law on
preserving and reproducing Kazakh dog breeds came into force on July 1. The
document provides for creating the National Centre of Tazy and Tobet in the
country to select the most suitable animals according to the standard, and
produce purebred dog breeds in the future.
